Our Mission

The Fund for Ophthalmic Knowledge, Inc. was established as a 501(c)(3) in 2001 by Dr. and Mrs. David H. Abramson. The goals are to support teaching, research, technology and education in medical and nursing fields with an emphasis on Ophthalmology including cancer of the eye, retinoblastoma and uveal melanoma.

Teaching

Support development of teaching materials for health care professionals, patients and families including written booklets, guides, online material, audio and video aids explaining diseases, research, treatments and outcomes. Support fellowship programs and travel for physicians, scientists and nurses to teach worldwide.

Research

Support prospective, retrospective, and randomized trials in medicine in addition to basic research and clinical research.

Technology

Support investigation, development, application and dissemination of modern technology for diseases including cancer and blindness.

Education

 Support medical and scientific education by sponsoring in whole or in part medical and or scientific meetings, travel to such meetings by students of nursing, medicine, medical genetics, masters and PhD candidates, Interns, residents and fellows in addition to clinicians and scientists worldwide. Support fellowships in Ophthalmology.
